Partial Discharge in HV & EHV Power Line

Partial Discharge in High and Extra High Voltage Line?Partial Discharge (PD) is very much important for Underground Power Cable. If you work with Power Cable, you must know the why and where Partial Discharge are presents. It will help to take action at right place in right time.

In electrical engineering, partial discharge (PD) is a localized dielectric breakdown of a small portion of a solid or fluid electrical insulation system under high voltage stress, which does not bridge the space between two conductors. Partial discharges are small electrical sparks that occur within the insulation of medium and high voltage electrical assets. Each discrete partial discharge is the result of an electrical breakdown of an air pocket within the insulation. These discharges erode insulation and eventually result in insulation failure.
Partial discharge testing results can help predict future performance and reliability of critical assets, including: Cables, splices, and terminationsPower transform…

History of Electricity in Bangladesh

History of First Electricity Uses in Dhaka even Bangladesh:
Brief History of Electricity In Bangladesh:
Bangladesh borne in 1971, but electricity utilization started in this region as a part of India before creation Bangladesh. First electricity switched on in 7 December 1901 in Ahsan Monjeel, residence of the Nawab of Dhaka. Latter on Dhanmondi power house was set up and the journey of commercial distribution started in 1930.
Up to partition of the country and independence of India and Pakistan in 1947, electricity generation and distribution was authorized by some private companies in this region. Electricity facility was limited within 17 provincial district urban area and of course only for nighttime. Total power generation capacity was then only 21 MW for East Pakistan; most privileged Dhaka city used two 1500kW generators to supply electricity.
To improve the power supply situation, government of Pakistan created Electricity Directorate in 1948 and issued an ordinance in 1959 to for…

CONFINED SPACE: KEEP WORK SAFETY

Image
How Work in a Confine  Space Safely? Confined space is one which is both enclosed, and largely enclosed, and which also has a reasonably foreseeable risk to workers of fire, explosion, and loss of consciousness, asphyxiation or drowning even risk of death or serious injury from hazardous substances or dangerous conditions such as lack of oxygen. Some confined spaces are fairly easy to identify, eg enclosures with limited openings:
You must carry out a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks for all work activities to decide what measures are necessary for safety under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations. For work in confined spaces this means identifying the hazards present, assessing the risks and determining what precautions to take.
You need to check if the work can be done another way to avoid entry or work in confined spaces. Better work-planning or a different approach can reduce the need for confined space working. If working in a CONFINED space, check: Ø…

The Largest Hydroelectric Power Generation Plant in the World

Image
How does Hydroelectric Power Generation work:In hydroelectricity water potential energy works with gravitational forces. Power plants are generally built near attached waterfalls, where enough river or seasonal rain water reserved available and the kinetic energy is the greatest. To control the flow of water some time dams are required to build. When water released from the reservoir it flows down with heavy forces which rotate the turbine where generator is shafted with it generate electricity. After the water has passed through the turbine, it’s returned to the river. This power generating process is very much eco-friendly and harmless for environment compared to thermal power plant. Generating cost also the lowest in the typical power generating process.
History of Hydro Power:Ancient people is learned to use hydro-power grinding flour and other tasks. Near about 1770 AD, French engineer Bernard de Belidor architected some technique to use hydro-power in horizontal and vertical-axis…
